This fall, Greek IV at Purdue will be experiencing lots of change. For the last two years, Annie has been fortunate to have a partner in her campus work. She and Tyler have worked together to share the Gospel with fraternity men and sorority women. Tyler has accepted a new opportunity to become the Greek Regional Coordinator. Basically, he will oversee all of Greek ministry in Indiana and Illinois. This also means that Annie will be the primary staff for the Greek IV chapter. Tyler will continue to be on campus one day a week in the fall to transition his role well. But Annie will have a significant increase in her leadership and responsibilities for the chapter. She will greatly miss Tyler and his passion for Purdue Greeks, but is exciting for the opportunity to grow and develop in her staff work.
The other major change will be the structure of student involvement in Greek IV. During Chapter Focus Week in May, the leadership team realized there aren’t many small steps to help students get involved in Greek IV, rather there are big leaps. The options were essentially to be a regular attender of large groups or Bible study and then to become a Chapter Ministry Leader. Since there can only be a limited number of Chapter Ministry Leaders, we realized there needed to be more opportunities for students to get involved. This fall we will be launching a “Core Community” to meet this need. The purpose of this community will be to help Greeks figure out with each other how to live out their faith in their every day lives. It will be discussion and activity based to help them internalize what they learn. Some of the topics we want to cover are how to how to identify the next step someone needs to take in their faith, how to pray with a vision, and how to maintain integrity in the Greek system. This group has a lot of potential but there is always a fear that it will become “just one more thing on the schedule.” We would love your prayers that it truly helps to transform Greeks and help them live out their faith intentionally.
