Thank you for your prayers about Greek Getaway! It turned out to be a fun and impactful weekend. The weekend was full of fun, games, and small group discussions. As Annie has connected with students to talk about their experience, each one has said the two-hour Retreat of Silence was the highlight of the weekend. During this time, we provided them with a guide to study Matthew 6:5-15, the Lord’s Prayer. Many students had never spent this kind of time with God or had truly studied the Lord’s Prayer. They were struck with how God spoke to them, and with the depth of meaning behind the Lord’s Prayer. It’s been exciting to hear how students not only had fun but also were truly met by God and drawn closer to him. Now Annie is trying to help them think of next steps to take on campus to help this experience make a difference in their own lives and in their chapters.
One of the lessons students learned at Greek Getaway was the importance of community. God created us not only to be in relationship with him, but also with each other. A few students expressed how they feel alone in their chapters – they don’t have much of a Christian community there. Greek IV is a place that shows them they are not alone; there are Christians in the Greek system! Since these students were so impacted by the community, the hope is that they will invite their brothers or sisters to join them. As the Greek IV community grows more Greeks hear the Gospel and are impacted by it. Please pray with us that the students would be excited, not afraid, to invite their brothers and sisters to be a part of this community that seeks to learn what Jesus has to do with being Greek.
