We’re half way through the semester, which means joys and struggles for ministry. As the semester goes on, students settle into their routines. This can mean that Chapter Ministries be-come more regular and more people are going. At this point there are about 80 students attending 14 Bible studies in fraternities and sororities each week! Annie met with the Chapter Ministry Leaders in Phi Mu last week. Twenty-four different sisters have come to the Bible study at least once this semester. The CMLs are intentional with each one. They were telling Annie the best ways to connect with the sisters outside of Bible study – whether they sit down for coffee or talking during a trip to Wal-Mart. This is an example of a thriving ministry!
On the other hand, as the semester goes on, students be-come busier. Our large groups have seen significantly lower attendance in the last month. Last week Annie helped the leader-ship team think about why this is happening and how it can turn around. We decided to get back to basics. Greek IV’s vision is “To see Greeks transformed, chapters renewed, and world changers developed.” In other words, we want to see Greeks fall in love with Jesus. As their lives are changed, we want them to live radically in their chapters. And after they graduate, we want them to live radically wherever they go. We know none of this can happen unless Greeks first fall in love with Jesus. Many of our students know about Jesus, but falling in love with him is a whole other step they may not know they need to take. We realized this is something we know, but don’t regularly articulate with other students. That meeting gave a new energy to the leadership team to finish out the semester with gusto!
