This semester Mike and Purdue IV hit the ground running. Within the first six weeks of school the undergrad chapter has participated in two separate conferences in different capacities.
At Purdue they recently attended and helped to advertise for the Purdue Symposium. This conference is sponsored by many campus religious organizations and welcomes people from all over the area to look at issues of faith through an academic lens. Purdue IV students did a great job of inviting people to the conference using a proxe station to start the conversation about God’s thoughts on Human/Sex Trafficking, the topic of this year’s symposium.
February 15-16, Purdue IV is hosting the first retreat that is exclusively for our chapter since Mike has been at Purdue. He will be the main speaker at Winter Retreat, but it was mostly planned by a committee of students. Right now there are 19 students signed up and a couple more that are on the fence.
In the midst of the sprint there have been a few hurdles to clear. One major hurdle has been the loss of Jess, Mike’s staff partner. After struggling with funding last semester, Jess spent some time considering her options and decided that InterVarsity staff was not a great long-term fit for her. Mike supported her decision, but it has resulted in some adjustments for Purdue IV. One thing that the chapter is hoping to grow in as we press on this semester is female involvement. Especial- ly with Jess’ departure, gathering women has been a chal- lenge. Please pray for us as we continue to sprint toward the end of the semester in May.
