Purdue IV entered the school year with high hopes for the semester. Before school began students gathered for a back-to-school “training camp” to learn how to reach out to new students, but more importantly how to follow up with those that we have contact with. We prayed and prepared for the freshmen that were already on campus for orientation.
The start of school brings hope as many students are trying to find where to get involved. Many of them are deciding if they will keep the faith they have grown up around. This makes IV’s outreach and follow up during these first few weeks that much more significant. In just a few short weeks Purdue IV students have already had over 400 conversations with people around campus asking, “What are you thirsty for this semester?” 200 have given their contact information, saying they wanted more information!
During the first weekly gathering of the semester, Mike gave a call to faith. Three students decided to commit to following Jesus on their own! After talking with these students, Mike found out that though they had all grown up around the church they wanted to commit to following Jesus for themselves! Yay God for new followers and new spiritual life at the beginning of the school year!
