This year Mike has been surprised by an accidental theme as he works with Undergrad students. Together the chapter has been exploring the global identity and heart of God. All semester Mike has been recruiting students to InterVarsity’s Urbana Missions Conference this December [last time Mike & Annie heard God’s call to Russia there]. So far six students have registered to explore God’s call for their life.
Recently, a ministry called The Traveling Team, visited the Undergrad chapter’s weekly meeting. Their specialty is walking students through all of scripture from Genesis to Revelation pulling out God’s heart for the world throughout the metastory of scripture. They shared a diagram with students that they could use to explain God’s heart with their friends. Bigger than that, they invited students to participate in mission by either being a sender or a goer. Senders help support through finances and prayer partnership. Goers engage in the mission field “on the ground”. It was great to see students positive responses to this invitation.
On October 17, Mike and Purdue students will be joining with students from all over the world to pray for other student movements with IFES [International Fellowship of Evangelical Students]. InterVarsity is one of those movements, and Mike is excited to be able to help expand students' perspective to reflect the global God we serve.
