In my last newsletter I asked you to pray for Chapter Focus Week [CFW], our weeklong camp at the end of the school year. Thank you for your prayers because it was a wonderful week! This is often a crucial week because it can set up the tone of the next year. The leadership team spends the week getting to know each other and how they work together as well as developing vision and plans for the fall. At first we thought only 3 of our 4 students on the leadership team [Katlyn, Halie, and Ross] would be able to attend. But at the last minute Mack’s internship was relocated and he was able to come too!
The team accomplished a lot during CFW. They went through team building initiatives and gained significant insights of how they work together such as who talks too much, who doesn’t talk enough, and who thinks outside of the box. They also planned a theme for our fall large groups, “Fake ID.” Each week we will address a false identity we may have and how Jesus can transform that identity. For example, one night we will talk about money and the title will be “I am what I own.” The speaker will help us unpack how our identity should rest in Jesus rather than our possessions. The team really got into this theme and I am excited to see how it will help our students grow!
As the week went on each student discovered an area of ministry they want to champion. Katlyn wants to shepherd the Chapter Ministry Leaders. Mack has a heart for leading worship. Halie will make sure our community is inviting and hospitable. Ross longs to see Greeks of every ethnicity and culture come together to worship God. It was fun to see each of their passions come out as we discussed ministry and plans for the fall. Pray with me that those passions would stay strong over the summer and for my ability to help those continue to grow in the fall.
