Ashley, a Greek IV leader going into her senior year, felt like she heard a whisper from God at CFW as she considers options for after college, including coming on staff with InterVarsity. Coming into the week she was unsure that God had a plan for her life after college. At CFW she was reminded by the speaker that she was God’s masterpiece. Mike also was able to pray with her and remind her that it wasn’t an accident that the Greek IV chapter had grown as she was a leader, encouraging her to continue to lead with spiritual authority that comes from Jesus.
Max, one of the international student leaders at Purdue said that at CFW God “strengthened his faith and gave him a more global view on evangelism.” This fits with the nickname that our staff team has given Max this year, “Max the Evnagelist” after two of his friends became Christians this year through his witness. After changing her flight home so she could go to CFW, Sophia, another international student leader on the trip said that God is calling her to “break walls and build bridges [on campus] by learning to love people that are not like me.” Both Sophia and Max plan to be involved in leadership and outreach to new students in the fall semester.
Jordan, a graduating senior from the undergrad chapter, got a chance to connect deeply with God during his last CFW. He reflected on the time he had in college and his involvement in IV. The afternoon before he left to get back for graduation he sat in tears disappointed that he hadn’t gotten to see all of the growth in the chapter he longed for during his time on campus. Mike talked with him, reflecting on the impact Jordan had made on the chapter, and sharing how he saw God moving in Jordan’s own life. Then Mike encouraged him to share that with the chapter that evening, and cast his vision for the chapter one more time. That evening Jordan shared through tears that vision, and invited the younger students to own the vision and lead the chapter well in the fall.
The song concludes with the chorus, “Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave.” We are so blessed to have faithful partners in minsitry that allow us to serve students and staff. Thank you for your continued investment in the work of God’s kingdom at Purdue.
