The year has started and Purdue Greek IV is well into the
swing of things! Friday and Saturday before classes started we had tables at two events with the hope of meeting new students who might be interested in being Greek and Christian. We used the same display as last year, asking students “Would Jesus Go Greek?” It was fun to hear their responses and get them thinking about the possibility of being Greek and Christian. What Annie enjoyed even more was seeing the Greek IV students be bold in initiating conversations with students passing by. She loved watching the students encourage each other and overcome their fears of talking to strangers, especially talking to them about Jesus. Mack, a leadership team member, saw right away that Jaclyn, one of the women in Annie’s Freshmen Bible Study last year, was nervous. She had never done a proxe station before. He invited her to watch him for the first few conversations. Soon she was jumping into the conversations with him. And all of a sudden she was talking to people by herself. Annie was so proud to see the students coaching each other and making that kind of progress in just a few minutes!

On 9/22-23 the chapter will head to Greek Getaway, a 24 hour retreat to help students refresh their vision for Greek IV or to get connected to Greek IV for the first time. There will be team competition times, but also space to talk and be honest about where they are in their faith. Perhaps most importantly, they will have time to connect one-on-one with God, something they may have never done before. This is a strategic event because it helps students gain a vision for Greek ministry and feel connected to the larger Greek IV community. Right now we have 5 students signed up and we are hoping for 40. Greeks tend to sign up last minute for everything. But since Annie is such a
planner, it still makes her anxious when they do that. Please pray that students would sign up and truly
experience community and God during this retreat.
