This is the busiest time of year for Greek IV. February 7-9 is Greek Conference, our annual student conference. Attendance has been growing significantly over the last few years. There are 760 Greeks from across the country registered! It’s amazing every year to see so many Greeks gathering in Indianapolis, seeking to grow closer to Jesus and encourage each other in their faith journeys. Ninety-eight Purdue Greeks from 19 different chapters are attending! It was a slow start to get students registered, but as usual with Greeks, they are registering in droves last minute.
Phi Delta Theta has the most people attending, 22 brothers. Ross and Hunter had a well thought out recruiting strategy. Hunter is a sophomore and went to each brother in his pledge class to invite them. Ross is a senior and invited the brothers after Hunter did. Hunter “primed the pump” and then they were ready to commit to the weekend when Ross invited them. They also had situations where a bunch of brothers were hang- ing out in a room and more of them were signed up than were not. So the brothers who weren’t signed up decided to go be- cause they didn’t want to miss out. At one point Ross sent a text as he was recruiting, “I’m going nuts on recruiting, [my brothers] aren't saying no at all!” This is a picture of a thriving ministry that reaches the whole chapter!
Annie is directing the Lead concentration for the second year in a row. This concentration trains and equips students to lead chapter ministries and Bible studies. She loves this role because she believes it is one of the most strategic parts of Greek Conference. These students go back to campus ready to share the Gospel and see their brothers or sisters transformed, their chapters renewed, and in the process they become world changers.
